Việc báo giá các dự án bánh răng côn xoắn trở nên dễ dàng hơn khi xem xét toàn bộ cặp bánh răng như một hệ thống cơ khí thống nhất. Các bài viết ở đây đề cập đến những vấn đề thường gây ra sự không chắc chắn: chiều ren, tỷ số truyền, góc trục, khoảng cách lắp đặt, độ rơ, vật liệu và xử lý nhiệt, phương pháp cắt hay mài răng, kiểm tra tiếp xúc và đo lường thay thế.
Đối với thiết kế mới, hãy bắt đầu với bản vẽ được kiểm soát và các giao diện lắp ráp. Đối với việc thay thế, hãy ghi lại cả vị trí các bộ phận và vỏ trước khi tháo dỡ bất cứ khi nào có thể.

Hình ảnh kỹ thuật được sử dụng để giải thích các mối quan hệ, chứ không phải để thay thế bản vẽ sản xuất.
Các sơ đồ trong cơ sở kiến thức thể hiện các khái niệm như góc trục, hướng tay quay, vị trí lắp đặt và chuyển động tiếp xúc. Chúng được thiết kế chung chung. Không sao chép kích thước hoặc hình học từ hình minh họa vào bản vẽ sản xuất. Cấu hình đặt hàng phải được xác định bởi dữ liệu dự án đã được phê duyệt.
