For a Japanese machine or legacy drawing, keep controlled dimensions in the original unit system and show conversions only as a communication aid. When an old part number or sample is used for identification, add current measurements and mating-pair data so the quotation is not dependent on a legacy reference alone.
For custom work, the accepted drawing revision remains the clearest way to control the ordered configuration.
