Use the knowledge base before a drawing review or replacement RFQ

Spiral bevel gear projects become easier to quote when the pair is treated as one mechanical system. The articles here cover the subjects that most often create uncertainty: hand, ratio, shaft angle, mounting distance, backlash, material and heat treatment, cut versus ground tooth routes, contact review and replacement measurement.

For a new design, start with the controlled drawing and assembly interfaces. For a replacement, document both members and the housing position before dismantling whenever possible.

Technical visuals are used to explain relationships, not to replace the production drawing

Diagrams in the knowledge base show concepts such as shaft angle, hand, mounting position and contact movement. They are intentionally generic. Do not copy a dimension or geometry from an illustration into a production drawing. The ordered configuration should be defined by the approved project data.
