Manufacturing & Quality for Spiral Bevel Gears

The manufacturing route is planned around the controlled drawing and the acceptance method. The aim is to keep blank datums, heat-treatment condition, tooth finishing and final inspection connected rather than treating them as isolated operations.

Process route

1

Drawing & datum review

Confirm the gear pair, machining references, interfaces and inspection requirements.

2

Blank & machining preparation

Plan turning and interface machining so later gear operations have stable references.

3

Gear cutting & heat treatment

Use the ordered gear system and protect critical surfaces according to the process plan.

4

Finishing & inspection

Finish teeth where specified, verify drawing characteristics and prepare agreed records.

Inspection scope should be agreed before production

Not every part needs the same report. A replacement pair may depend on contact, mounting geometry and dimensional comparison with a sample. A drawing-controlled production part may call for a defined gear quality standard, runout, bore or spline checks and material/heat-treatment records. Put these expectations into the RFQ so they can be included in the route and quotation.

Typical inspection questions

Datum dimensions

Which dimensions establish mounting distance, shaft location and the relationship to the tooth geometry?

Pair identification

Are the mating components controlled as a set, and how must hand or pair marking be managed?

Gear quality

Which gear-quality or tooth inspection requirement applies to the ordered configuration?

Material condition

Which material, heat-treatment and hardness requirements are stated on the controlled drawing?

Request a quote

Send the gear pair, drawing and duty in one RFQ.

The more clearly the mating relationship and assembly datums are defined, the faster the configuration can be reviewed.

Ordering & delivery guidance

MOQ is flexible by product type, manufacturing route and total order value. Suitable new projects may request 1–5 sample pieces at sample pricing. Mixed models can be combined when the order total reaches approximately USD 1,500. Orders of 1–2 pieces can be reviewed, although unit cost is normally higher.

Typical planning windows are 10–25 working days for standard parts, 20–45 working days for customized components and 45–120 working days for project-type equipment or assemblies. EXW, FOB, CIF and DAP are commonly supported; FCA, CFR, CPT, CIP and DDP can be discussed for the shipment.
